Congratulations to our partners at Srikiran Institute of Ophthalmology who launched a first-of-its-kind Teleophthalmology program.  They are using Clocktree to connect satellite clinics with the main hospital to treat ophthalmology patients from different districts where specialized care is not available.

This program was launched in conjunction with The Sankurathri Foundation, a non-profit organization with the goal of eliminating preventable blindness by the year 2020.  As stated by the chairman of Sankurathri foundation, “Ophthalmology experts would give treatment from Kakinada and people need not come to the city for eye care. They can get quality treatment near the branches from their villages.”

The addition of innovative products make it easy and portable for individuals to connect with experts who can provide high quality eye care for the people in rural and tribal areas. The institute was a leading centre for transplants in the state by performing 600 corneal transplants under the guidance of Dr Madhu. Teleophthalmology is a tremendous use to many rural patients.
